Parliamentary group
An officially constituted group of MPs who organise their parliamentary work around shared political affinities.
A parliamentary group is formed under the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly and must meet the required membership threshold. It receives organisational rights, participates in the Conference of Presidents and coordinates positions and speaking time. MPs remain holders of a personal, national mandate and are not legally bound by group instructions.
A group appoints a speaker for a debate and requests a recorded vote on an amendment.
A parliamentary group is not identical to a political party, even when their names are closely related.
