Paragraph
The English equivalent used here for the French term “alinéa”: a numbered drafting unit within a legislative article.
In French parliamentary documents, an alinéa is a numbered unit within an article of a bill or law. Its number lets amendments identify exactly where wording is to be inserted, deleted or replaced. It does not always correspond perfectly to a visually separated paragraph in every published version.
An amendment proposes to replace specified words in the second sentence of paragraph 4 of an article.
The technical French alinéa may not match an ordinary typographical paragraph in another document.
