CIVIX · partial prerender

Legislative file

The official set of documents and procedural stages associated with a bill throughout its parliamentary consideration.

A legislative file brings together the successive versions of a text, reports, amendments, votes and key dates in its passage through Parliament. It makes it possible to follow a government bill or private member's bill from tabling to its final outcome. CIVIX uses these official records to present a neutral chronology.

A file shows the bill as tabled, the committee report, each reading and the promulgated law.

The file is the documentary record of the procedure, not the enacted law itself.
