Government bill
A proposed law initiated by the French Government and submitted to Parliament for consideration.
A projet de loi is prepared by the Government, considered by the Council of State and deliberated by the Council of Ministers before being tabled in Parliament. It is then examined in committee and public sitting by the National Assembly and Senate. It becomes law only after parliamentary adoption and the subsequent constitutional stages.
The Government tables a finance bill in the National Assembly after a Council of Ministers meeting.
