Government amendment

A Government amendment proposes precise changes to a text already before Parliament. The responsible minister presents it, while the committee and parliamentarians may give opinions and vote on it. If adopted, it is incorporated into the bill like any other adopted amendment.

The Government tables revised wording during the public sitting to reflect an agreement reached in debate.

A Government amendment changes an existing bill; it is not a new government bill.
