Committee stage
The phase in which a parliamentary committee examines a bill and votes on its clauses and amendments.
Committee stage prepares the Assembly's deliberation through detailed examination of the text. The rapporteur, committee members and Government discuss clauses and proposed amendments, and the committee votes on them. The adopted changes normally form the committee text used in the public sitting.
The Law Committee examines a bill clause by clause and adopts revised wording.
Committee stage is a decision-making parliamentary phase, not merely a consultation.
