Blocked vote

A procedure under Article 44.3 allowing the Government to request one vote on a text containing only amendments it has proposed or accepted.

The blocked vote enables the Government to ask a chamber to decide in a single vote on all or part of a text. Only amendments proposed or accepted by the Government are included in the version put to that vote. Parliament still votes to adopt or reject the resulting text, unlike the procedure under Article 49.3.

The Government asks the Assembly to vote once on a clause incorporating only the amendments it accepts.

A blocked vote includes a parliamentary vote; Article 49.3 may result in passage without a direct vote on the bill.
